About posts
Posts are the primary means of discussion and collaboration among the Sermo community.
Posts can be intended to seek professional input from colleagues on any topic, such as clinical cases, business management, healthcare, technology, ethics and many more.
How to create a post
It all starts in the Post Creator located on the top right of your feed on desktop or the bottom center on mobile, allowing you to create a post at a moment’s notice.

Ask a Question
- Have a quick question for your colleagues? Use this simple, new post type to ask questions that are top of mind, such as “when do you plan to retire?” or “what’s your favorite summer vacation spot?”
-
Start a Discussion
- Here, you can share more details on medical and non-medical topics.
- In these discussions you can include poll questions, links, up to 8 media attachments (image and video) and up to 5 PDF attachments.
-
Share a Patient Case
- These are the same great patient cases that can now be shared in two ways: Unsolved OR Case Study. Now, if you have an interesting case that you’ve solved, you can share it as a Case Study to help educate your colleagues.
- Bring your Patient Case to life by including links, up to 8 media attachments (image and video), and up to 5 PDF attachments.
Post Tags
Tags are automatically applied when you publish (powered by AI), helping your insights reach the right audience. You'll see this in the top-right corner of your post.
If the AI-assigned tag isn't quite right, you can update it anytime by clicking the three dots on your published post and selecting "Change tags." Your updates help train the system, improving tagging accuracy over time.
Editing your post
You can also edit posts anytime after you've published to fix typos, give updates or share new images, by clicking on the overflow menu (three dots at the top-right of the post). From there you can click on ‘Edit Post’ and make the necessary changes.
Tip: Check out this resource for advice on how to start meaningful discussions and thoughtfully contribute to the feed.
Add a Poll to Your Post
How to add a poll to your post
Whether you Ask a Question, Start a Discussion or Share a Patient Case, you have the option to include a poll question(s). Including a poll question allows you to gain quick, statistical insights from your colleagues.
For discussions and Patient Cases, you can add up to five poll questions. Click the poll icon to add a poll question and answers to your post.
You can limit your audience to select only one answer or they can select multiple if you prefer they 'check all that apply'. You can add up to seven answer options by clicking the “+” button on the right side of the Answer box.
Tip: Sermo members engage more with posts with a poll and love debating in the comments section, we encourage you to do so, too!
