What is Sermo Mobile?
Sermo Mobile is designed to empower healthcare professionals with secure, on-the-go patient communication, all while safeguarding personal contact details.
What are the benefits of Sermo Mobile?
Privacy protection: Keep your contact details private while boosting call answer rates with a recognizable caller ID, like your office number
Secure patient calls anywhere, anytime: Easily make secure calls to patients from your mobile device or computer, anytime
Free for members: Make unlimited patient calls within your country, completely free of charge!
Is Sermo Mobile available to all members?
Currently, Sermo Mobile is available only in the United States, United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Mexico, France, Germany, Canada, Australia, and Brazil. We're working on expanding access to more countries soon, so stay tuned!
Is WiFi required?
For calls made by your computer an internet connection is required, either via Ethernet or Wi-Fi. For mobile, calls are placed using your phone’s data connection, so you’ll need a cellular data signal or Wi-Fi to connect.
Are call notes compliant?
Sermo Mobile provides an optional space to jot down quick notes—ideal for moments when you’re away from the office. Notes are encrypted with a secure PIN that you create. They will automatically expire and are permanently deleted after 8 days, giving you enough time to transfer them to your clinical tools without storing information longer than necessary. Remember, you should avoid entering any patient-identifying details to maintain privacy and compliance with local data protection regulations. You can also turn call notes off completely by clicking the notes icon on the “call in progress” screen or from the Sermo Mobile Settings page.
What happens if I forget my PIN?
If you forget the secure PIN you created, you can reset it at any time from the Sermo Mobile Settings page. Keep in mind, when a new PIN is created any unexpired call notes will be permanently deleted. Your PIN is used to encrypt your call notes, so for security reasons we can't retrieve or reset your PIN.
Will my call audio or transcripts be recorded?
Nope! Your conversations stay between you and your patients, nothing is recorded or stored.
Can I receive calls on Sermo Mobile?
Sermo Mobile is a one-way street. If a patient calls you back, they’ll reach the number you set as your Caller ID, such as your clinic or office line, not Sermo Mobile.
How do I set up my Caller ID to display my hospital or clinic number?
Two easy options:
- Use the Caller ID dropdown in the “Make a call” tab
- Head to your Sermo Mobile Settings page and manage your Caller IDs there
Can I test my call audio before making a patient call?
Yes! You can click “Test Call Audio” just below your phone display, or go to the Settings page to play a sample audio file. This lets you confirm your speakers are connected and your volume is set correctly before starting a call.
Will my personal phone number be visible to patients?
Nope! Your personal phone number is not associated with calls made through Sermo Mobile. Patients will only see the caller ID you’ve selected—such as your clinic or office number—ensuring your personal contact information remains private.
Can I make international calls to patients outside my country?
Right now, calls are domestic-only within your country.
What if I'm traveling internationally? Can I still contact my patients?
Sermo Mobile uses the country of your medical practice to determine your location. So, no matter where you are in the world, you can always stay connected with patients in your home country.
Is calling through Sermo Mobile really free?
Absolutely! It’s 100% free for Sermo members. Stay connected with your patients and handle follow-ups without worrying about costs. Your membership in our community is priceless…so we figured your calls should be, too!
Can I switch audio modes during a call?
If you have headphones or earbuds connected to your phone, your call will use it for both the microphone and speaker. Without headphones or earbuds, the call will default to speakerphone—and you won’t be able to turn it off once the call begins.
