Getting Started with Sermo – Sermo

Welcome to Sermo!

Here are some tips to help you get the most of your Sermo experience.

Your Sermo homepage

The Sermo homepage is the first page you will see once you've completed registration and log in. Here are areas to begin exploring:

Your personalized feeds
The post creator
Profile card
Topics you follow
Drug Ratings
Surveys opportunities
Notifications
Direct messages
And much more

Your personalized feeds

For you: This is your personalized feed that curates the content you want to see most. Choose the topics, specialties, countries, and types of posts you are interested in by clicking edit on the right side of the feed bar and going through the steps. These selections will be prioritized at the top of your feed.

All Posts This is what's happening in all of Sermo - all categories, specialties and members. Select the drop down to go to the All posts feed. Also click the three lines on the right side to filter down posts by your specialty or country.

Sermo recaps: Select the drop down to go to the Sermo recaps feed. This allows you to easily find posts from the Sermo Team, so you don’t miss any content or promotions. Click through the different themes to see those specific posts.

Top posts: This is where you'll always stay in the know about posts that are getting a lot of buzz from the community.

The post creator

Connecting with the community all starts in the Post Creator, located on the top right of your feed on desktop or the bottom center on mobile. Clicking on this button allows you to create a post at a moment’s notice.

Once you select which type of post you'd like to put up, you will be required to enter important information for your post - i.e. title, body copy, the specialty you'd like to target, and any attachments that you'd like to include.

Post Types

Ask a Question
- Have a quick question for your colleagues? Use this simple, new post type to ask questions that are top of mind, such as “when do you plan to retire?” or “what’s your favorite summer vacation spot?”
Start a Discussion
- Here, you can share more details on medical and non-medical topics.
- In these discussions, you can include poll questions, links, up to 8 media attachments (image and video) and up to 5 PDF attachments.
Share a Patient Case
- These are the same great patient cases that can now be shared in two ways: Unsolved OR Case Study. Now, if you have an interesting case that you’ve solved, you can share it as a Case Study to help educate your colleagues.
- Bring your Patient Case to life by including links, up to 8 media attachments (image and video), and up to 5 PDF attachments.

Create a Poll

Within each post type, you have the option to include a poll question, so you can gather statistical data to support the topic you've chosen to post about.

These polls can be a single choice, multiple-choice, or open-ended answer, and you can add up to 5 poll questions to each post.

Profile card

The profile card can be found on the top left of your homepage, under the post creator button on desktop. On mobile, click on your profile picture on the top right corner of the homepage and then the profile card will appear. This is where all your general information can be found.

Topics you follow

This module shows you all the topics you are following, so you can keep up to date on all the latest discussions. To add or edit any selections select the gear icon.

Drug Ratings

Drug Ratings is the first and only global peer-to-peer drug review system provided exclusively from verified licensed physicians.

Drug Ratings is the world’s largest dataset of physician perceptions on drugs. Drugs are rated by doctors according to their efficacy, safety, tolerability, accessibility, and adherence. Reviews often include commentary based on doctors’ real-world experiences.

The Drug Ratings tool was developed by Sermo and our very own physicians. The statistical methodology behind Ratings was developed and verified independently by biostatistics consultants led by Lee-Jen Wei (Blue Null Consulting Group).

Surveys

Never miss an opportunity to earn!

The Surveys section within the navigation bar at the top of your feed on desktop or bottom of your feed on mobile, allows you to always keep tabs on what surveys you have available to take.

Notifications

Selecting this icon will show you alerts from both general Sermo activity and comments on your saved posts. Each notification will show here, and the number next to the icon is how many new notifications came in since you last checked.

Direct Messages

Messages are where you can have private, one on one conversations with your peers. You can also send a new message by clicking on the pencil icon under the search bar or you can message someone directly from their profile.
